During an experience of altered states of consciousness using psychedelic substances, it may happen that we cross the boundaries of what we can verbalize through language, feeling panic or a sense of being overwhelmed. Similarly, certain memories, thoughts or emotions that we thought belonged to the past, or of which we had no memory at all, may suddenly come to the surface.
In this type of intervention, I propose to directly confront such content, investigating it and thereby slowly re-attaching it to the chains of conscious thought. In a non-stigmatizing space we can reconstruct what that psychedelic experience meant to us and integrate it into our present.
Note: In Germany, the administration of psychedelic substances for therapeutic purposes is possible and legal only in a few experimental and highly controlled settings. I do not propose a therapy with the help of psychedelics, but the discussion and integration of experiences that may have emerged in the course of the patient’s life and personal use of psychoactive substances.
